Recommendations

On this page you'll find my recommendations. Places I've loved visiting, things I would recommend doing or seeing and such. There are some free things on this list, but also things that does cost a bit. There is nature, there are things to see in cities and there are childish things I love. I try to make recommandations that aren't necessarily the normal things you hear, but I will also include typically popular things/places if I really love them.
And should you have questions; you can post them in the facebook comment section at the bottom of this page.

Alps in the summer

The alps seem to be really popular during the winter, and I haven't been during the winter so I can't say anything about that. But it seems to me like people underestimate the alps in the summer. I've spent time in the Swiss alps on two different trips, and have also been to Chamonix in France, and I absolutely love the alps in the summer. The possibilities for walks in nature are endless and the little cities and towns are quite charming. There are so many gondolas and funiculars open and ready to take you to the beautiful mountaintops.

Lake Titicaca

Just about everyone who travels to Peru does so to see Machu Picchu, which is great. But I recommend taking a little detour by Lake Titicaca. A nice April day on the lake, visiting the Uros people and taking a walk on Taquile island, was one of my biggest highlights in Peru. At 3800m it is also the highest altitude I've ever spent a night.

Ice lagoon

I spent a week in Iceland and there was one area that really stood out to me. There is a couple of amazing places close to one another in the south-east; the ice lagoon and diamond beach. I highly recommend seeing these places.

Grand Canyon

I highly recommend seeing this amazing piece of nature. There are many ways of seeing it, I chose to see it by helicopter. We landed in the canyon, on the native side, and had a champagne lunch with this amazing, and to me also exotic, view.

Downtown Las Vegas

I love Las Vegas, and I think most people don't realise how much it has to offer. If I am to highlight something though it would be the downtown area. There is a cool container park with unique little shops, there is the Fremont street experience that is just amazing, there are free outdoor concerts and the vibe here is so different from The strip (even though I like it there too).

Giants causeway

This truly is a place not to miss. If you go to Northern Ireland, you need to see this. I love seeing nature at it's best and this place really is just that. In my opinion photos just can't do it justice.

The Cavern Club

The Cavern club is something really special. It's a bar with a great vibe and great bands, and it's also a bit of a museum. The original club was a few meters away where the Cavern pub is located now. However the club was built to look like the original 1960s club and bricks from the original club have been used in it's construction. Bands who have played the club includes The Beatles, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Elton John and so many more.

Vesterålen

One of the most famous destinations in Norway is Lofoten, and it is absolutely amazing. However, I want to recommend Vesterålen, and specifically Andøya. Vesterålen is the northern parts of the islands in the area, where Lofoton is the southern part. Vesterålen isn't as well known and therefore not as crowded, but it sure is beautiful. Highly recommend a visit!

Isle of Skye

I've been around Scotland quite a bit now and there are many cool and beautiful places, but Isle of Skye is most definitely my favourite. The area is big and not the easiest to get around unless you rent a car, but the trip is very much worth it. I definitely need to go back some time in the future.

Sunset in Rome

If you're ever in Rome I highly recommend taking time to see the sunset from Terrazza del Pincio. What I did: I walked from the Spanish steps, the street at the top of the stairs, towards this lookout point. And I got some great view along the way. It really was spectacular. (But then again, I am a sucker for those sunsets.)

Universal studios

I've been to both parks, Hollywood and Orlando. Or should I say all three, as the Orlando park is actually two. (Edit: Volcano bay was added after I visited.) I personally preferred the Orlando parks, but that's mainly because I was there after the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened up, and I was in Hollywood before theirs opened. Either way I recommend the parks, I had loads of fun at both locations. My favorite part was definitely the Harry Potter world, even the ques for the rides were packed with fun displays and entertainment.

Bar crawls

I will always recommend guided bar crawls. They are a great way of seeing the nightlife in a new city and meeting new people. And there are so many different ones. If the city you are going to has several you should figure out which one seems to be more your style, and then have fun. This is great both for solo and group travellers, as long as you're open to meeting new people.

Arthur's Seat

I had been to Edinburgh a couple of times already before I discovered this. I must not have done my research properly. Arthur's Seat is the highest point of Holyrood Park at 251m. Getting to the top is a fairly easy hike and the reward is an amazing view from start to finish, at the very top you can see all of Edinburgh below you.
